Lahaina Fire Volunteer Opportunities
On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, devastating wildfires swept through Maui, leaving a trail of destruction that leveled much of our beloved Lahaina Town and forever changed the lives of its residents. In the aftermath of this heart-wrenching event, countless lives, homes and businesses were tragically lost.
Although we are all deeply grieving the losses endured, the Maui Community is coming together like never before and the aloha spirit is very much alive. Maui is resilient and we know that, step by step, together we will emerge from this trial stronger than ever before.
There are many ways you can help while on your vacation, or at home.
Ridge Realty Rentals Ohana Relief Fund
While our team has been fortunate to be safe and accounted for, it is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge that four of our team members lost their homes and all of their possessions in the fire. Of the four, three of our cleaning team members are in need of help. We humbly ask for your support in our effort to raise funds for these remarkable women and their families. Every contribution you make will be dedicated entirely to them, extending a helping hand that will provide solace and assistance during this exceptionally challenging phase of their lives. Mahalo Nui for all of your love and support. |
Maria Lanakila Church
Maria Lanakila Church sits in the heart of Lahaina Town, and miraculously was untouched by devastating fires that destroyed everything around it. Founded in 1846, this historical church still stands as a symbol of hope. Saint Damien worshipped at this church before he traveled to Molokai to serve the leapers, where he ultimately gave his life for them. No matter your religious views, donating your time and efforts with the church is very hands on and they are directly involved with the community of Lahaina. |
People's Fund of Maui
People's Fund of Maui is providing direct financial assistance to Maui community members experiencing devastating losses from the fires in Lahaina and Kula. Adults 18(+) who lost their primary residence in the fires are eligible to receive $1,200 a month. Public donations sustain the relief efforts. |

Common Ground Collective
Common Ground Collective (CGC) is connecting fresh produce with those that are positioned to feed our impacted community members. They are currently seeking volunteers with Food Handlers Permits, as well as general volunteer help. If any local farms require assistance salvaging their produce, CGC is there to support. They extend an invitation to anyone willing to join their efforts. Please don`t hesitate to reach out. “On August 9th, the onset of the fires the Salvation Army kitchen burned down and Common Ground Collective (CGC) was contacted by Maui because Salvation Army is the state contracted food provider during times of emergency. On August 9th we immediately acquired the kitchen at University of Hawaii Maui College (UHMC), coordinated UHMC staff, various government agencies, Chef Hui and World Central Kitchen in order to begin providing meals for those in need both in shelters and out in the community at various community hubs. We have been working to incorporate products from local producers as much as possible to help offset the economic fall out of this disaster.” |
